A short but deep Saharan immersion: eight journeys rich in intense landscape and cultural content, from the high basalt peaks of Hoggar, the Assekrem where Pere de Foucauld had placed his mystical hermitage, to Tefedest, the chosen land of the French explorer Frison-Roche.

AThrough easy walks you enter one of the most beautiful regions of the Algerian desert. The light that envelops the mountains of Tefedest is unique: it gives depth and emphasizes the contours of things. An astonishing universe made of pink-tinged granite peaks. From these peaks the oueds descend to the valley giving life to green spaces that reach the sandy plains to get lost in them. This is, therefore, the ideal setting for our short trekking. In Mertoutek, the meeting with the Tuareg camel drivers and camels, who will take us to the plateau of the oued Ahor among numerous “gueltas”, surrounded by oleanders, pleasant refreshment points during the walks. At high altitude, in areas inaccessible to cars, paintings, graffiti, remains of fires are only part of the immense Neolithic wealth of this region; forgotten roads, dotted with pre-Islamic tombs make the traveler feel the weight of History. The route winds through the splendid paintings and graffiti of Timedouine and Tin Tafeltassin up to the granite batholiths of In Acolmou, a reference point for our wandering in the fabulous hunting reserve of Sidi Bouya, legendary mouflon hunter. Along the trans-Saharan we will return to Tamanrasset.
