The Tassili Plateau, which stretches across the southern border between Algeria and Libya, holds among its rocks one of the most important open-air museums of Saharan rock art. Under natural shelters and ravines, there are depicted mouflons, gazelles, human figures, fantastic and mysterious beings, shamans, herds of bovids, hunter archers, women with elaborate hair, and scenes of family life…a plunge into the past thousands and thousands of years ago.

Minimum number of participants: 8Djanet, the pearl of Tassili, an ancient Tuareg agglomeration, is the gateway to the Ajjer plateau
Following a centuries-old mountain path in about three and a half hours, one reaches its summit and, in six actual days of walking, visits the most important rock sites, such as Tamrit, Tan Zoumaitak, In Itinen, In Etuami, Tin Abouteka, Tin Tazarift, Sefar, Tin Kani, Ozeanere, Aouenrhet, and Jabbarebn. The group is accompanied by an experienced Tuareg guide and a caravan of donkeys to transport camping materials, provisions, water and luggage. Back down in Djanet, we continue the journey by 4WD to skirt the base of the huge ramparts that hold up the plateau and to reach the grandiose dunes of the Erg d’Admer, where we will end this exceptional journey into prehistory, a genuine Algerian jewel.
