Tassili n'Ajjer
THE POWER OF IMAGES
The Tassili Plateau, which stretches across the southern border between Algeria and Libya, holds among its rocks one of the most important open-air museums of Saharan rock art. Under natural shelters and ravines, there are depicted mouflons, gazelles, giraffes, rhinos, human figures, fantastic and mysterious beings, shamans, herds of bovids, hunter archers, women with elaborate hair, and scenes of family life…a plunge into the past thousands and thousands of years ago.

- INFODuration: 10 days
Minimum number of participants: 6It all starts in Djanet, the pearl of the Tassili, an ancient Tuareg agglomeration that is a veritable gateway to the Ajjer plateau
Following a centuries-old mountain trail in about three and a half hours, we reach its summit and, in six actual days of walking (with possible extensions), visit the most important rock sites, such as Tamrit, Tan Zoumaitak, In Itinen, In Etuami, Tin Aboteka, Tin Tazarift, Sefar, Tin Kani, Ozeanere, Aouenrhet, and Jabbaren.
The group is accompanied by an experienced Tuareg guide and a caravan of donkeys to transport camping materials, provisions, water and luggage. Back down in Djanet, we continue the journey by off-road vehicle to skirt the base of the huge ramparts holding up the plateau and to reach the sandstones of Terarart with its famous graffitied crying cows and the grandiose dunes of Erg d’Admer, where this exceptional journey into prehistory, an authentic Algerian jewel, will end.
ALGIERS AND TIPASA EXTENSION
To further enrich the Algerian experience, it is possible—and highly recommended—to add a three‑day extension in northern Algeria. This is a unique opportunity to discover the timeless elegance of Algiers, with its fascinating blend of Ottoman and colonial architecture, and to explore the extraordinary Roman ruins of Tipasa, perched along the Mediterranean coast.
The stay is designed for complete relaxation, with accommodation in a comfortable hotel and the constant support of expert guides, allowing you to enjoy every moment in total serenity and with the highest level of quality. - PRACTICAL INFORMATION6 days on foot and 2 days off-road
