In the heart of one of the most isolated regions of the Atlas Mountains, the great limestone Azilal Plateau is crossed by three great canyons, Akka n'Tazart, Akka n'Taghia and Akka n'Tafrawt, and includes peaks reaching over 3000 metres.
The Zouîat Ahanesal Valley forms the entrance to the Berber village of Taghia, reachable only on foot. A short walk from the village oasis, created by some incredible springs, the gorges open up, leading deeper towards the watershed of the Atlas Mountains, flanked by miles of walls of up to 900 metres in height. The rock is an amazing orange limestone of exceptional quality; the ideal support for outdoor climbing in the wilderness. This geographical area offers incredible opportunities and dozens of miles of canyons and valleys that are virtually unexplored from a climbing perspective. Today, Taghia is one of the most beautiful places in the world for limestone climbing and, given the great number of routes, is suitable for anyone: audacious seekers of new paths, repeat climbing enthusiasts. There is no electricity or telephone line; you are completely isolated yet perfectly integrated into the peasant life of the little Berber village – a small corner of paradise!
